Eisenhower Park Mural Sponsorship
Main Street Dodge City and the City of Dodge City are seeking to have a mural commissioned at
Eisenhower Park. Eisenhower Park recently underwent renovations and the mural would bring
the entire project together and attract more locals and visitors. The mural will embody the
name of the park along with the culture, heritage, and past and present story of Dodge
City. Eisenhower Park is located in the heart of downtown Dodge City and plays a major role in
events we host. A strong vibrant downtown is a representation of a strong vibrant city.
This mural project is made possible in part by a grant from the Kansas Creative Arts Industries
Commission (KCAIC). However, we are still needing to secure the matching funds for the
project. Any sponsorship of $1000 or more will be featured on a plaque that will be on display
by the mural and through a media release.
The land for Eisenhower Park was donated by Martha Elizabeth “Betty” Muncy to the City of
Dodge City. Muncy was a dedicated Dodgecitian, volunteer, and tremendous benefactor for
our illustrious community. She was a great fan and supporter of President Dwight D.
Eisenhower, which hints at why she chose the name Eisenhower to recognize the man from
Kansas who served as the 34th President of the United States.
Betty Muncy served on many boards and organizations including; Soroptimist, Daughters of the
American Revolution, Women’s Chamber of Commerce, and Dodge City Area Arts Council. She
was instrumental in raising funds for the extensive restoration at the Santa Fe Depot for the
Depot Theater Company. She also helped in establishing scholarships for journalism students at
Kansas University and Dodge City Community College.
Your consideration of partnering with Main Street Dodge City, City of Dodge City and the KCAIC
on this project would be greatly appreciated and impact the continued improvement of
Downtown Dodge. For more information contact Coral Lopez at 620-371-3872 or
